CAO shifting to online payments instead of cheques starting Nov. 1

Oct 05, 2023

Most surveyed condo community members indicated that they are looking forward to this improved convenience! It’s not too late to tell us what you think. Take the survey yourself now.

Ontario condo corporations will soon be required to use CAO’s quick and convenient online payment system and will no longer be able to pay assessment fees by cheque.

This change is part of CAO’s effort to streamline and modernize our payment process to improve security, efficiency and convenience.

Our new pay by bank direct deposit option allows condo corporations to securely add and save their bank account information in our system to use for future CAO assessment invoice payments. Payments are not drawn automatically but must be authorized by the corporation each time. Corporations can retain their existing financial approval processes when using this option.

Condo corporations transitioning from cheque payments can download our Online Payments Process Guide. The guide includes a payment authorization template that helps corporations update their payment approvals while maintaining two signature approvals.

You can now pay your annual assessment invoices using any of the following online payment methods:

  • Direct Deposit (Pay by bank)
  • Credit Card
  • Debit Visa/Mastercard
  • Google Pay

Start setting up your corporation’s banking information by logging into CAO’ Services Portal and making the shift to paying online in just a few minutes!
