Imagine someone in your condo building suddenly collapses. You call 9-1-1 and the dispatcher asks:

“Is there an automated external defibrillator nearby?”

Would you know the answer?

Every second matters in a cardiac emergency. An automated external defibrillator (AED) can help save a life, but only if it can be found quickly.

That’s why registering your condo’s AED matters.

AED Foundation Ontario maintains Ontario’s official AED Registry. Registering your AED provides emergency services with important information about its location and accessibility, helping 9-1-1 dispatchers direct bystanders to a nearby device when it is needed.

Why register your condo’s AED?

  • Help 9-1-1 find it: Registration helps make your AED visible to emergency dispatchers so they can direct callers to the nearest available device
  • Make every second count: Faster access to these devices can improve a person’s chance of survival
  • Be better prepared: Keeping your AED visible, accessible, maintained and registered can help your condo community respond in an emergency.

If your condominium has an AED, take a moment to check that it is registered, accessible and easy to find.
