Annual sector survey results

Towards the end of last year, we launched the first of our annual sector surveys to learn more about you. The results are in, and your insights are already shaping our priorities and resources for the year ahead. Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate! 

 

What did we learn?

First, let’s look at who you are. Meet our newsletter readers:  

 

 

Almost two thirds of you told us you want more than one newsletter per quarter. We heard you and immediately responded to this feedback with this newsletter. Expect to see more frequent updates from us moving forward.

 

 

Many of you highlighted a need for more training and resources in two key areas: 

• Understanding rights and responsibilities within condo communities 
• Knowing how to raise concerns and resolve issues effectively 

Expanded resources are already planned to help support healthier condo living and reduce conflict. 

In the coming weeks, we will be launching a province-wide digital ad campaign where we will feature your own condo living experiences, paired with best practices about what condo community members should understand about living in a condo. 

While just over two thirds of respondents said they feel confident or very confident that CAO meets their needs, others shared that they are not yet confident. Your responses will continue to help us better understand where we can improve most. 

 

 

What can we do to improve?

The clearest theme from your feedback was the need for more consistent education and guidance about the roles, rights and responsibilities of everyone in a condo community.

We hear you. Clearer expectations and stronger shared understanding are essential to reducing confusion, conflict and frustration. 

We encourage you to continue referencing and sharing CAO’s existing guides and web resources to help support your community, whether the issue involves tenancy, board decisions, or the important role owners play in condo living. We are currently working on ways to reach more of you such as through more webinars and video resources.  

Many of you also expressed interest in an expanded CAO mandate and greater oversight within the sector. We encourage those who wish to see this change to direct feedback to your local MPP or the Minister, as they have the power to change our mandate through legislation.
