Delegation of condo forms to CAO starting in the new year
The CAO is looking forward to expanding its digital services with the government’s delegation to host condominium forms.
On Dec. 5, the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services (the ministry) announced it will be delegating responsibility for 17 forms under the Condominium Act, 1998 (the Act) to the Condominium Authority of Ontario (CAO), effective Jan.1, 2020.
This is a welcome addition to the CAO’s current suite of digital services and resources, which are currently available on the CAO’s website. It provides an opportunity for the CAO to introduce another innovative digital solution and make the forms easier to use and navigate.
With its digital-first mindset, the CAO will be consulting in the year ahead with owners and members of the condominium community regarding which forms should be the priority and to seek input about how they can be improved. Following consultation, the CAO may recommend changes to the government forms, which will require ministry approval before implementing.
The CAO has already started work to host the 17 digital forms, to be delegated under the Act , and is starting to explore solutions for using an interactive and intuitive question and answer approach for users to complete the forms.
Condo forms delegation – Effective Jan. 1
As of Jan. 1, 2020, the forms delegated to the CAO will no longer be hosted on the Government of Ontario land registry website and will only be available on the CAO’s website.
